Working together to empower developing countries with sustainable cooling solutions.
Robert and Michael came together with a shared mission: to rid the world of electricity consuming and carbon-emitting air-conditioning systems.
Early product development was largely self-funded until a patent was granted for the modular solar-thermal cooling system that they had developed.
Following the granting of the patent in 2015, they secured grants from Horizon 2020, Energy Entrepreneurs Fund and Innovate UK, together with initial funding from angel investors.
Our team combines engineering expertise, manufacturing setup and commercial experience.
During the past years Solar Polar has partnered with renowned universities and institutions, and won numerous awards, among which, this year:
2020 – Innovate UK energy catalyst grant won to provide demonstrator solar fridges to Kenya.
2020 – Engineers without borders award for putting solar ice making demonstrator into Egypt.
2020 - Agri-tech grant won to place shipping container-sized agricultural produce storage demonstrator into Kenya.
